for Diesel-powered Electricity Power Plants

MAN Diesel & Turbo is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of diesel engines, supplying a huge range of systems: from gensets to two-stroke engines for giant container ships; from power units to turnkey diesel power plants; from single compressors and turbines to complete machine trains for various industrial applications.

Power plant construction is a significant strategic business area for MAN Diesel and the company has recently secured a 300 million euro order for the supply of 120 large diesel engines with generator packs for installation in six new power plants in Brazil. The order was placed by Grupo Bertin, the multinational group responsible for the construction of the site near Salvator in the state of Bahia.

The new power plants, which are designed to produce some 1,000 megawatts of energy from 2011, will help Brazil meet its growing demand for electricity.

Reliable filtration systems are essential to protect the diesel engines from the risk of damage from particulates – both on the lube oil and fuel oil supply – and MAN Diesel has specified BOLLFILTERs for the Brazil contract.

Self-cleaning BOLLFILTERs Automatic
Type 6.46 and BOLLFILTERs Simplex Type 1.78.0 will be installed for the lube oil filtration, and BOLLFILTERs Duplex Type 2.06 and BOLLFILTERs Simplex Type 1.12.2 for the fuel supply filtration. Plus, an additional 12 BOLLFILTER Automatic Type 6.64.05 combinations will be supplied for lube oil.
