The supply system transports fuel from the service tank to the mixing tank. The system consists primarily of the supply pumps (redundant), pump protection filters and the automatic filter with a defined filtration rate.
Depending on the application, heavy oil or marine diesel oil is transported via the supply pumps, screened by the pump protection filters, through the automatic filter (fine filtration) to the mixing tank.
The mixing tank is also holding the excess fuel from the engine.
The pump protection filters, which are equipped with a coarse filter element, are located on the suction side of the supply pumps and protect the redundant pumps in order to guarantee a secure fuel supply.
The automatic backflushing filter type 6.72.1 cleans itself based on an adjustable period of time or by reaching a differential pressure due to the collection of contamination. In addition, this type of filter can be outfitted with a change over valve and attached by-pass filter (optional), which also ensures the supply of filtered fuel while performing maintenance.
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) wants to significantly reduce sulphur oxide emissions from marine fuels. From 1 January 2020, the permissible value for the sulphur content in fuel must be reduced from 3.5 percent to 0.5 percent. However, low-sulphur fuel leads to an increase in cat fines, which are harmful to the engine. BOLL & KIRCH offers you individual filtration solutions to protect your marine engine from cat fines.
