Maintaining operational irrigation systems

In today's agriculture, the irrigation of large areas of arable land is a basic requirement for meeting the desired yields. The water used in all installations must first be filtered in order to remove solids that could block the sprinklers and thus reduce the operational efficiency of the system.

The filters used must:

  • Through their precision, guarantee a specific degree of filtration in the water to be treated.
  • Through their reliability, ensure continuous operation without faults in the entire installation.
  • Contribute to keeping the operating costs low through minimum maintenance and a long service life.
  • Feature a self-cleaning system that is able to guarantee flawless operation in installations with high amounts of suspended solids, such as sands, algae, molluscs, etc.

Protection of emitters in irrigation systems

Modern agriculture is characterised by its tendency to use large areas of land, thus substantially changing the demands that filter systems must meet.

As a result, new needs require the installation of equipment with a high filtering capacity that reduces the investment, as well as the maintenance and operating costs. Depending on the installation, different degrees of filtration can be used. BOLL SELFCLEAN 6.18 guarantees the water flow from collection to the emitters.

Reference in crop irrigation filtered water

Vitacress, Europe’s uses water treatment and filtration systems and counts on BOLLFILTER to provide high quality water for crop irrigation.

Following successful trials, the farm has invested in an innovative water treatment and filtration system to provide high quality water for crop irrigation. Raw water from the nearby River Stour via the Farm’s reservoir is pumped through a packaged system comprising of BOLLFILTER Automatic Type 6.18 and a UVO3 Ultra Violet Water Treatment Unit which disinfects the water. The result is in an overall reduction in viable bacteria of 99.9%.
