The objective was to ensure the level of purity required by the customer through reliable particle removal. The main challenge was to design a cost‑optimized solution that simultaneously provides:
The optimal solution selected was a cast filter of type 1.12.2, manufactured from corrosion‑resistant stainless steel 1.4408. This filter system offers a compact and economical design while ensuring minimal pressure drop. Welded filter elements and special sealing materials provide maximum chemical and mechanical robustness. The overall concept is completed by a customized cleaning procedure tailored precisely to the customer’s requirements.
Efficient Liquid/Gas Separation for Electrolyte Recirculation, Sensor Protection, and Hydrogen Quality Improvement
The technical requirements for gas separation are demanding. The system must ensure:
For the hydrogen line, a customized combination of a pre‑separator and a coalescer filter (BFB‑C HD M 115.300) was developed, specifically designed for the tight spatial constraints. The stainless‑steel construction (1.4404), special seals, and welded elements ensure high robustness and media resistance. The filter system achieves nearly 100% separation efficiency across the entire operating range while maintaining extremely low pressure loss.
In the oxygen line, a specially developed pre‑separator is used, also optimized for compact installation conditions. It achieves a separation efficiency of over 90% across the full operating range and is characterized by very low pressure losses. A tailored cleaning procedure ensures that the strict customer requirements for oxygen purity are reliably met.
