Sewage treatment / Waste water filtration with BOLLFILTER

BOLLFILTER for NSAF filtration

The treatment works in Surrey trusts BOLLFILTER to protect the NSAF plant. The filter operates continually with an automatic backflushing cycle, removes the need for manual cleaning and prevents plant downtime.

The NSAF cells contain a biomass with microbes that, when pumped through with oxygen, feeds on ammonia and other contaminants to purify the water. The BOLLFILTER installation, which comprises an automatic self-cleaning filter with manual filter on the bypass line, is designed to protect small pipework in the NSAF plant from risk of damage or blockages from particulates.

Pump and spray nozzle protection in the sewage treatment industry

Reference in the UK´s largest sewage treatment works

BOLLFILTER automatic filters have been installed in the sewage treatment house in Beckton.

The sewage treatment process features eight large screens that can operate continually to remove screenings from the sewage. Following primary and secondary treatment, washwater is fed into the screens via a series of nozzles to wash the sludge off and clean the screens and brushes. In order to prevent the washwater nozzles from blocking and disrupting the screenings separation process,
The BOLLFILTERs Automatic are fitted to the washwater inlet feed prior to the pumps, with the added benefit of protecting these from possible particulate damage. A small amount of the pressurised washwater is fed back into the filters for efficient cleaning without the need for separate backflush pumps, creating a low energy, space efficient filter/pump solution.
